Langtang Valley Trek

12 Days

Overview

An enjoyable trip through Nepal, the Langtang Valley Trek starts with a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ends with a drive to Syabrubesi the next day. Following our timetable, we start our journey through the lower Langtang Valley and make our way to Kyangjin Gompa via the Langtang National Park, tiny villages, farmlands, and lush forests. We ascend Tserko Ri at Kyangjin Gompa to get breathtaking views of the Langtang peaks at sunrise. The rich local culture still reflects the region’s historical significance as a trading hub, the Langtang region, which shares a border with Tibet. Furthermore, the Langtang Valley Trek itinerary includes a visit to Langtang Village, which was severely damaged in the 2015 April earthquake that rocked Nepal. We finish our thrilling 11-day journey through Nepal at Kathmandu, the starting point. We also offer the Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja La Pass, as well as the Langtang Gosaikunda and Helambu Treks, if you’re looking for something more than simply the valley trek.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

After breakfast today, we begin a guided tour of some of Kathmandu’s most revered historical and spiritual landmarks, which are also regarded as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We go to the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, the holy Pashupatinath Hindu temple, the well-known Swayambhunath “Monkey Temple,” and the Buddhist shrine Bouddhanath, which is also one of the biggest stupas in the world. We check our gear with our trekking guide at lunchtime, meet the other participants, and talk about out trip at the Kantipur Holidays office.

Day 3:Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi 1550m/5086ft

We leave Kathmandu early in the morning and head towards the town of Syabrubesi, which is the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. On a clear day, we may enjoy breathtaking views of Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal as we go down a meandering road with lots of switchbacks. We will descend into the charming village of Syabrubesi, where we will spend the night, to cap off our hiking adventure for today.

Day 4: Trek to Lama Hotel 2380/7809ft

For around an hour, the hike starts with a steep incline and then gradually ascends through a grove of oak and rhododendron trees. You will ultimately arrive at Lama Hotel, where you will spend the night in a tea house, after passing through the village of Bamboo.

Day 5: Trek to Mundu Via Langtang Valley 3553m/11625ft

We head uphill and enjoy the mountain panorama with its many waterfalls after departing from the Lama Hotel. We can see the snow-capped peaks of the Langtang mountain range as we get closer to the lush fields of Ghoda Tabela. Our route continues upward through the widening valley, passing by a few makeshift herder camps. We go via a Buddhist monastery before arriving at Langtang hamlet, which was damaged during the April 2015 earthquake. We continue on our way to Mundu.

Day 6: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa 3870m/1269ft

After breakfast, we will head to Kyangjin Gompa, one of the most important monasteries in the region. We see prayer wheels, chortens, water mills, and holy piles of rocks with marks on them along the route. We also go around the largest mani wall in Nepal, a stone wall with prayers engraved on it. After the short hike, we spend the rest of the day exploring Kyangjin Gompa, a Buddhist sanctuary, and the surrounding areas, which provide breathtaking mountain views.

Day 7: Climatization;Explore Tserko Ri 5000m/16405ft

We spend the whole day touring Tserko Ri, which will help us become used to the high altitude. We set out early in the morning on our trip, ascending to Tserko Ri via yak pastures. From the top of Tserko Ri, the sunrise view is simply breathtaking. In the late afternoon, we make our way back to Kyangjin Gompa, where we have time to explore the lovely monastery and enjoy the breath-taking views of the Himalayas, glaciers, yaks, and birds.

Day 8: Trek back to Lama hotel

After breakfast, we set out on our hike and hike back to the Lama Hotel. The majority of today’s hike will be downhill as we pass through picturesque Tamang towns and woodlands. We also get to enjoy a different viewpoint of the Himalayas that we had missed on the ascent along the route.

Day 9: Trek back to Syabru Bensi

Essentially, we retrace our steps to reach Syabrubesi, and the hike will be somewhat simpler as it will mostly be downhill.

Day 10: Syabru Bensi to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we take a car back to Kathmandu. We use the rest of the day to pack and maybe make a few last-minute memento purchases. In celebration of our journey’s triumph in the Langtang Valley, Mission Nepal is organizing a farewell supper.

Day 11: Rest day in Kathmandu

You are free to go around Kathmandu on your own this morning. You can opt to visit cafes, bars, or clubs, or take a nap in your hotel or try some of the street food. After your strenuous mountain hike, it can also be worthwhile to visit a spa and treat yourself to a soothing massage.
