Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek  is a wonderful trip, a combination of Ghorepani Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp, two different treks. The ABC Trek through Poon Hill is an ideal destination for trekkers who want a breathtaking mountain view from a lower elevation and a chance to explore the high Himalayan glacier, marine, and icefall, which are home to diverse cultures and rural communities.The Annapurna Base Camp Trek package is intended for travelers who want to experience spectacular mountain scenery, Nepalese culture, and diverse landscapes. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek will take you to the base of the world’s tenth-highest mountain, Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), at Annapurna Sanctuary, at an elevation of 4,130 m. You will be trekking one of the most popular trails in Nepal, enjoying stunning sights and panoramic mountain views of the Annapurna range, and experiencing the rich culture and traditions of the locals. Every year, an uncountable number of travel lovers traverse this region to witness the spectacular beauty of the Annapurna Himalayas and its gorgeous landscape.As the ABC Trek via Poon Hill goes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, most of the trail goes through the jungle inhabited by snow leopards, deer, wild goats, and many more wildlife and diverse vegetation. The trail leads you to different tea houses at Tadapani, Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Bambo, Dobhan, Himalaya, Deurali, Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700 m), and the final destination at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). It is unforgettable walking in the wilderness of the Himalayas, following the bank of Modi Khola after Chhomrong, and making a narrow gorge between two gigantic mountains, Machhapuchre (Fishtail) and Hunchuli. People refer to the sacred area beyond the Himalayan Hotel as Annapurna Sanctuary, as it prohibits animal sacrifices.  Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill is a key attraction of this trip. The glacier view from a close distance, the icefall, and the wonderful mountain views during sunset and sunrise make your journey more pleasant.


Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and trekking preparation Lunch,dinner

Upon arrival at international airport, our waiting support team will meet and greet you at the airport assist and transfer to the Hotel. And trekking preparation and permit organize day. Please, check your insurance details and have a copy of your travel medical insurance policy with you.

Day 02: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (950m) – 6 to 7 hours by tourist bus Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our trekking guide will come to the hotel in the morning at six o’clock to pick you up with private transport. We’ll drive to Pokhara (200 km) which will take us about 6 to 7 hours on a very scenic route. Along the journey, you will witness some stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains, green hills, rivers in rafting, and villages. Pokhara is a beautiful valley with panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fishtail), Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu. The town of Pokhara is set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 03: Drive Pokhara to Ulleri (1,960m) via Nayapul (1,010m) – 3 to 4 hours and trek to Ghorepani (2,840m) – 3 to 4 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This is the day first of ABC Poon Hill Trek.  The trek commences at  Ulleri (1,960m) after 3 to 4 hours of driving by private/Public vehicle from Pokhara via Nayapul (1,010m), Birethanti, Tikhedhunga (1160m), Hille (1,495m) village.  In the begging, we walk through the village and farm terrace ascend gently, through dense forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti (2,250m). Occasionally,  the Longgur (long tail black mouth Monkey) jumps in the trees. Then, continue to walk towards Nangethanti (2,460m), after an hour walk we arrive at Ghorepani (2840m). Stay overnight at a Teahouse.

Day 04: Hike up Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m) – 45 minutes, to Tadapani (2520m) – 4 to 5 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We will hike about 45 minutes up to Poon Hill (3210m) early in the morning. This viewpoint provides an unobstructed and beautiful view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas with panoramic view giants Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), Machhapuchere, Nilgiri, Hiuchuli, South Annapurna etc. Additionally we can see a network of other peaks, slowly beginning to appear like magic before our eyes. We come back to Ghorepani for a hot breakfast and start walking to Tadapani. Here the trail climbs alongside ridges with pine and rhododendron forests to the Deurali and then descends through beautiful waterfalls, streams, and dense forest to Banthati. The streams have some clear pools alongside the trail which finally climbs up to the final destination Tadapani meaning ‘hot water.’ This is the water supply for a village far away.

Day 05: Trek Tadapani to Chomrong (2140m) – 4 to 5 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast the trail starts with a steep downhill through rhododendron forests and terrace fields to Kimrong Khola, offering good views of the upper Modi valley. Then, after crossing suspension bridge, ascend to a Gurung village. You can donate some money for the school kids and school welfare if you feel so inclined. From here the trail goes on, gradually ascending through the forests with a huge landslide ridge – an easy walk to Chommrong (2140 m). Here we have some view of mighty peak of Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Gangapurna and Fishtail touch to the skyline. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Trek Chommrong to Dovan (2500m) – 5 to 6 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The trail descends down a stone staircase to the Chhomrong Khola and we continue climbing to small village named Sinuwa (2340m). The trail leads us through the dense forest further on. Then the route travels very steeply down a rock bank through thick bamboo at the bottom of the gorge to Bamboo. And after lunch we go up along the Modi Khola forest to the Dovan. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 07: Trek Dovan to Deurali (3200m) – 4 to 5 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today is short day trek to altitude and risk of snow avalanches in the area that we need to cross in the next morning. All the way we will climb through serene bamboo and rhododendron mixed forests nearby the Himalayan Hotel. This area, known as Hinko cave, was used for porter’s shelter in previous time. We then continue to Deurali. On the ridge above Hinko is the stretch of trail that is subject to avalanches. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 08: Trek Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) – 4 to 5 hours, via Machhapuchre Base Camp (3700m) Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast the trail lead us into the heart of the Sanctuary at the Annapurna Base Camp for our overnight stay. The trail goes uphill for few hours passing some roofless shepherds huts along the side of a moraine – this area is windy and often snowbound. The trail climbs on past the Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m), which isn’t really a base camp since climbing the mountain is not permitted. From here to Annapurna Base Camp, we’ll walk upon 2 hours of trail offering superb Himalaya scenery with amazing panoramic views of snow-capped mountains surrounding you. The rest of day you have time to explore around and relax at the base camp as per your interest.

Day 09:  Trek back Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2345m) -5 to 6 hours) Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner        

After breakfast we drop down to Bamboo, collecting boundless experiences. This morning we glimpse sunrise and the last evening sunset over Mt. Annapurna I, Annapurna Fangs. The unobstructed views of mountain scenery, which is very spectacular as its totally surrounded by mountains. We know come to know why this area is known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. After having spent a great time here, we retrace the journey back to Bamboo for the overnight stay. You can rest and relax in the evening with an unforgettable view of the many snow-capped peaks and enjoy dinner.

Day 10: Trek Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (hot spring) (1780m) – 4 to 5 hours Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The trail follows the same route until Chommrong. Once we have passed Khuldighar there is an experimental sheep farm, the trail continues through rhododendron and bamboo forests with majestic mountains scenery, especially Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,997m). From the ancient Gurung village Chomrong, the trail descends very steeply to the Jhinu hot springs, where you can bathe in natural hot springs only 20 minutes from our hotel. The rest of the day enjoy you and stay overnight.

Day 11: Trek Jhinu Danda (Hot spring) to Siwa (1230m) /Syauli Bazaar (1220m) – 3 to 4 hours, drive to Pokhara (950m) 2 ½ to 3 hours Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner   

In the morning you will visit Hot Spring /Tatopani beside the Modi Khola river bank, where you can bathe in natural hot springs, walking only 20 minutes from Jhinu Danda. Then back to tea house for breakfast and the trail for today first descends to the Komrong Khola and gets New Bridge, where you fallow the river bank and through the forest to the Siwa (1,230m) through Kyum. We will drive Siwa/ Syauli Bazaar to Pokhara by Jeep or Taxi it takes 3 to 4 hours. Here we see many others trekkers as well, who are coming from Ghandruk after visit Ghorepani Poon Hill. Stay at Pokhara for overnight.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu early in the morning by Tourist Bus – 6 to 7 hours    Breakfast

We should be ready by 6:00 in morning in hotel lobby in order to have breakfast or seek advice from your trekking guide. We will drive back to Kathmandu through on the main road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, and high hills. It takes about 7 hours (conditional) to reach your hotel in Kathmandu. If you are interested to fly from Pokhara to Katmandu (bear in mind the extra cost of the plane tickets) please request Nepal Mother House Trekking to book your flight ticket in advance. It takes about 30 minutes flying time with spectacular views of the Himalayas, high hills, terraces, local settlements, and forests. This can indeed make it worth flying.

 Day 13: Final Departure Breakfast

In this pleasant day you may have full day at leisure either relax at hotel or explore the around Thamel. Today is day of ending your journey, so we would like offer you farewell dinner in Nepali typical Restaurant. Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until departure flight/drive. Our assist will be transfer to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination, taking with you the memory of a life time.

  • If necessary, carry trekking equipment, such as worm-down jackets, sleeping bags, and duffel bags during the trek.

  • There will be three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trek
  • The accommodation is soft and comfortable, with a shared twin bed for the entire mountain.
  • The government license holder is an English-speaking, experienced local guide who provides food, accommodation, salary, insurance, and equipment.
  • If the group size exceeds 10, an additional Sherpa (assistance guide) will be provided. In addition, their expenses for food, accommodation, salary, insurance, and equipment are also included.
  • We provide Guide & Porter insurance for their enjoyable journey.
  • A Trekking Map of Annapurna for Groups.
  • We will be providing supplemental snacks (cookiesand fresh fruits) on the trek.
  • During the trip, carry a first-aid medical kit that includes an oxygen meter to measure oxygen and pulse at high altitude.

Excludes

  • We offer a wide variety of cold and hot drinks, such as drinking water, tea, coffee, chocolate, cookies, desserts, phone calls, laundry, and hot showers.
  • The clients’ travel insurance and evacuation are mandatory.
  • If you require a porter who can carry a maximum of 20–25 kg, including their 4–5 kg gear, you can hire them. They should also provide their own food, accommodation, wages, insurance, and all necessary transportation.
  • If, in that case, the flight is canceled and a charter helicopter or plane is.
  • Tipping for the guide and porter and your meals at Kathmandu & Pokhara.
  • Personal expenses include things like shopping, souvenirs or gifts, and personal mountaineering gear.
  • Optional trips and sightseeing are available if extended.
  • The package includes international airfare, airport departure tax, and visa fee.
